The Australian Library of Things Network is not an organisation. We are a network of organised volunteers from libraries around Australia who come together around issues that matter to us. We are passionate about the benefits LoTs provide to our communities and want to see all LoTs prosper.
We have a volunteer convenor who is our designated representative, plus dedicated volunteers who work on various projects to advocate, organise and make our work happen.
Convenor - David Paynter
Our current convenor is David Paynter, founder of the Gold Coast Tool Library. You will see David speaking at events and popping up on forums nationally to represent ALoT. David has a knack for growing connections with his friendly nature. That's him on the right visiting the good folks at Share Shed Bassendean in Western Australia.
Organiser - Nicole Bray
Nicole Bray is our behind-the-scenes organiser and editor of ALoT Monthly. Nicole co-founded Share Shed Inc in Brisbane and started the ALoT Network in 2022 after seeing a need for LoTs in Australia to work together to overcome common problems. She's pictured here with Ian of the Blackwood Library of Things in South Australia.
Growth of a movement
From less than 10 known Libraries of Things in 2017, Australia now has more than 40 and counting. These incredible organisations offer their communities a way to borrow useful items, reduce waste, save money and reduce emissions. Together they are saving thousands of tonnes from going to landfill and helping Australia reach our net zero carbon emissions goal by 2030.
